Hello Readers. Today's project is a pair of jeans. Great fitting jeans are difficult to find. They are the four leaf clover of clothes. If you find a pair you really like, it can feel magical. I found these at a clothes swap a nice woman told me about. (Thanks Trina!)
Here they are. I know what you are thinking. They are way too long, and too big at the bottom. I know. The fit and comfort are great everywhere else, so making them as short as I am is no trouble.
I would need 5 inch heels to make these work. What mom wears 5 inch heels?
I put a pin in the leg where it started to flare out, right below the knee.
I took about an inch off the flared bottom each leg. Here I am using what I cut off one leg to guide my sewing of the other.
I cut the excess fullness out of the legs and then cut the thick hem off the bottom. You can see it is still slightly flared. I liked the boot cut style, just not the big bell they used to have.
I used thread that is thick and matches what jeans are typically hemmed with.
I am finished and I made them the right length for my boots.
Thank you for reading, now go make something fabulous for yourself.

I've never thought of using the cut off part of a garment as a guide to the oppposite side ... and getting the second side sewn the same as the first is always a real bugbear for me ... so thanks for that tip!
P. S. Great fit + comfy = truly magical, you are right
Thanks jenny_o! Jeans that fit are so hard to find.
