Hello Readers. It is Dressember 2024. I am wearing and refashioning dresses all month to participate in this fund raiser. This organization
works to help the victims of human trafficking. Currently there are an
estimated 27million victims around the world. Most of these victims are
women and girls. That is why we wear dresses all month, to raise
awareness of this issue. What if you can't or don't want to wear dresses? You can also wear a tie. I could not wear a dress to my old job but I could wear a tie. There are so many ways for everyone to participate.
How often do you wear formal satin? I don't wear it often but this dress seemed full of possibilities when I saw it at a clothes swap. It did not fit at all. But it was a pretty color.
Before and after.
I think this was meant for a wedding or something formal like that. I wanted to remake it.
I cut the top of the dress from the skirt. I wanted to work on the separately.
The front is going to be the back.
I made 2 big tucks in the fabric to improve the fit.
I cut and hemmed the skirt into a simpler shape. The original skirt had a open slit. I wanted something simpler.
I clipped the top and the skirt together so I could sew them back in place.
I tucked the collar in the top and thought the V-neck was better. This new dress is simpler but I kept the fun, full, fluttery sleeves. Thanks for reading along, now go make something fun for yourself.
***Year End Update***- This is so formal, I don't know when I will wear this again. It is good to be ready though.
