Green Sweater Combo

Hello Readers. I love the color green Is it because I am Irish? Is it because I have green eyes? I'm not really sure.

Before and after. I really like green.

This bright green sweater was fine. Not much to say about it it was just OK.

This green shirt had a lace panel in the front that was really worn out. The fabric of the shirt was OK but the lace was done. I decided to use the sleeves from this shirt. The sleeves were designed and sewn at an angle like a raglan style shirt.

The sweater sleeves were also designed at an angle, like a raglan shirt. I decided to follow the angle on both shirts and put them together.

I put the right sides together and sewed with a zigzag stitch to keep the sweater from fraying.

That was it! I had a new green sweater. I liked the new sleeves, they add some fun to the sweater. Thanks for reading along, now go make something fun for yourself.

***Year End Update- This sweater is great because I love green and the sleeve add a little break in the color.

Making a Raglan Shirt-Chelsea Pattern

Hello Readers. I used the Chelsea pattern from FabricStore.com recently to make a rash guard for swimming and avoiding the sun. It worked so well, I used it again for a fun Captain Marvel shirt. It is a great simple and FREE pattern. Let me show you what I made.

Before and after.

Someone nice passed this shirt down to me. It is a men's shirt and I loved the graphic. Captain Marvel as a Funko Pop bobble head! My youngest thought it looked like me so I went with it and made the shirt my own.
(And say hello to Gordon. He is a 3 year old Dachshund mix that my daughter got from a local rescue. He is very cute, has anxiety issues and loves snacks. He visits me when he needs dog sitting.)

I found the Chelsea pattern online. You can download it and print it for free from FabricStore.com. It is a simple raglan sleeve top. I found the sizing very accurate for me.

I cut out the sleeves from the pattern as they directed. For the body of the shirt I did something else. I used the pattern to cut the front and back at the same time. I didn't want to cut 2 pieces and sew them together because they were already together at the shoulders I left the binding around the neck hole in place to make this project even easier.
(Gordon wanted to nap on the shirt pieces and I said no. Sad doggie face.)

I got the blue sleeves from this knit sweat shirt dress. I cut the sleeves from the bottom of the dress so the hem of the dress would be the binding on the end of my sleeves. That saved a lot of time too.

I connected the pieces using my serger. This shirt went together in no time.

This is actually my second Captain Marvel shirt. I made one into a tank top a while back and now I have a second shirt for cooler weather. Thanks for reading along, now go make something fun for yourself.
*Year End Note From Chickie- I wore this shirt a lot. It was great for me. It gets worn often.

Orange Jeans Again?

Hello Readers. I have a question for you? Do you like the color orange? I love it but how many pairs of orange jeans does one woman need?

I know you are thinking who has orange jeans? And who would have more than one pair? Good questions. The pair I am holding is too tight thanks to Covid snacking. The pair I have on is a bit big and really long. But I really want them to fit so lets get to work. I also want to do something with this floral shirt.

The first thing I had to do was try on the big orange jeans and mark where I need to take them in. I usually try them on inside out and make marks in pencil. I mark the sides all down the hips and legs.  The pencil marks will wash out.

With my marks to guide me I can make these orange jeans really fit me. Not the manufacturers idea of a human body, but me!

After I took a look at the jeans on he floor I panicked that maybe the legs were uneven. The right leg looked shorter in the picture above. I checked the jeans up close and they are even. I just did not lay them out straight.

My jeans are done so I can work on the shirt. I wanted to make a raglan sleeve shirt because I love that style. (And the arm holes are simple straight lines.) I used a shirt I love as a guide and cut the sleeves and shoulders off this floral shirt.

I wanted a different color sleeve so I found this blue t-shirt. I didn't want the advertising but I could use the rest of the shirt. I also cut the hem off and saved it for later.

Here are my new sleeves/shoulder pieces.

I attached the sleeve pieces to the shirt. It was pretty easy. I used that t-shirt hem as binding at the neckline and the ends of the sleeves. It works great for this and I know the color is a perfect match.

My shirt was finished! Hooray! And it was great with my jeans.

I wish I could say I went out on an adventure. I just went to work.

Thanks for reading along, now go make something fun (And orange!) for yourself.

***Chickie's Year End Review-This shirt is still a favorite and these jeans are so fun too. Love, love.
