Formal Dress to Fun Skirt

Hello Readers. I had a beautiful dress that I got many months ago. It was poofy and lovely but I had to shorten and simplify it. I had so much extra fabric that I was able to make this skirt.

Before and after.

I cut the ruffle from the bottom of the dress. It took away the extra length from the dress and that extra was just waiting to be put to use.

The dress had 2 layers of thick nylon lining. I did not like all that heavy weight so I removed one layer. It was a knit nylon, so I did not need to hem the cut edge, I just cut the fabric out of the dress.

I needed the lining to be the length of the ruffle that I cut off the dress.

I had some elastic to make a waistband for this new skirt.

I turned the waistband inside the skirt.

I clipped the ruffle to the lining. The ruffle was a bit larger so I gathered it to fit the waistband.

I sewed the ruffle to the skirt. I loved the embroidered flowers. Look at them, they're so pretty. This was the most difficult part, getting all the tulle under the sewing foot.

I love how it turned out. It is great with this little sweater.

I also thought it was fun with this yellow top. Thanks for reading along, now go make something fun for yourself.
