The Donut Bracelet

Hello Readers. Let's make a bangle bracelet in honor of National Donut Day. It is on June 6th in the U.S. We can have some fun by painting a big bangle bracelet to wear for the day.

It is not a serious holiday it's just a fun silly day. It is also a day when you can get special deals on donuts. Head over to your local donut shop and see what they have to offer. (Mmmmm....)

Make a fun donut bracelet that you can wear on National Donut Day and any other day too.

You will need a big wide bangle bracelet similar to this. Any color bracelet will work. The whole bracelet will be painted so it doesn't matter what color it is. It will look best if it is smooth and does not have a carved design.

I used basic acrylic craft paint. This paint is permanent and does not wash out. That is great for our bracelet but not great if you get it on your other clothes. Be careful not to get it on anything but the bracelet. A smock or old t-shirt to protect your clothes is a good idea.

I painted a coat of white paint to cover the bracelet's original color. It won't show when I am done with the bracelet but it will cover the original color and help the final colors look the best. I let the white paint dry over night.

I painted one half of the bracelet with the khaki paint. This will be the dough of the donut. I made it a bit wavy because the line of the icing on a donut isn't perfectly straight. I let this paint dry thoroughly.

I painted the other half of the bracelet with the bright pink paint. I chose pink because it is bright and fun but you can make any color bracelet you want. Donuts come in all different colors. I let this paint dry too.

I added some "sprinkles" to my donut bracelet with a variety of paint colors. I used a safety pin to make little spots of paint and they looked very "sprinkle-like" to me. The safety pin had just thge right shape to get the look of a real sprinkle. The sprinkles had to dry thoroughly like all the other coats of paint.

When the bracelet was dry, I added a spray coat of this Krylon acrylic coating. It is not required but it will help seal all the colored paint on the bracelet. It is basically clear paint and when it dries down it makes a coating to protect the paint under it. It also added a nice shine to my bracelet.

I made sure I had open ventilation to use this spray. I sprayed all around the bracelet. I sprayed from all different angles to reach every side and angle of the bracelet. And again... I let it dry fully.

Thank you for reading along while I made this bracelet and I hope it inspires you to make something fun for yourself.  I am wishing you sweet donuts, colorful bracelets and a wonderful day.
