The Overwhelming Denim Suit

Hello Readers. I found a great suit at a clothes swap. It was very unique and made of denim. I love denim! It doesn't wrinkle much, it is never too formal, and it is easy to work with. This suit is really embellished and that made it difficult to think of a refashion idea for the jacket.

This suit had navy blue and white designs all over the jacket and the skirt. When I got around to trying it on I realized it didn't suit me at all. (hahaha, See what I did there? That's pun-ny!)
OK, back to the clothes. I was overwhelmed by the jacket, I didn't know what to do with it.
I focused on the skirt.

This jacket is so well made but it is a little busy on me.

It was too long and the elastic waist was a bit stretched out. I took in the waist and removed the pockets. It was sad to lose them but they made the skirt a little bulky on me. I cut the skirt to a shorter length. I cut at the top of the navy blue patch at the center. I didn't want the skirt too long and I didn't want half a patch. The length was almost decided for me.

I don't need extra bulk in my tummy! Bye bye pockets.

I stitched in thick white thread along the edge to make it look finished but I didn't actually hem it. I washed it to let it fray. In the picture on the right you can see how the long white threads came loose in the wash. I cut the long white threads and left the short fuzzy blue edge alone.
I like cut-off denim. It has a relaxed casual vibe.

Here is the skirt by itself. The wind is blowing it but you can see how it looks.

Here I am wearing my skirt and enjoying nature. That rose bush behind me has always been small to medium size and then suddenly this year it exploded and it is as tall as I am. I didn't do anything to it but it is a big beautiful thorny beast now.

Thanks for reading, now go make something fun for yourself.
And if you have an idea for the jacket let me know in the comments.

Do you think if you dyed it that would tone things down? A dark blue?

Turn it into a vest.

That is a good idea. I am not sure how it would take the dye, but it's fun to experiment isn't it. Thanks for the comment.
