Pajama Shorts (With a Fun Print)

Hello Readers. You know (If you're a regular reader.) that I go to clothes swaps and thrift stores regularly. I love it because of fun, handmade, unique items like this. Who made this jacket? Where did they find this fun Asian print? What was the occasion to wear it? We'll never know.

The jacket was much too big on me. It had thick lining in the shoulders too. It was seriously baggy, shapeless, and long.

The maker added this shiny silver cord as trim on the front of the jacket. It was VERY shiny and VERY scratchy, I found it uncomfortable and it left my neck red and irritated after just a few minutes.

But look at this cute print. This fabric is fabulous. I took it home from the thrift store and kept it until I could decide what to do with it.

(Does this remind you of the sunscreen logo with the Coppertone baby?)

I decided to use a simple pattern from this book. My daughter got this from a sewing class she took a few years ago. It has quite a few easy projects.

The jacket was just barely big enough to make the pajama/boxer shorts. I used the bottom of the jacket as the bottom of the shorts. This saved time and made it easier for me. That scratchy cord got cut off.

Here is a picture of actual sewing. I was connecting the front and back pieces.

The jacket had pockets on the front and I just left them in place. Do pajama shorts need pockets? Probably not, but they were there already and I can put my phone in there when I go downstairs in the morning for breakfast.

The shorts turned out loose and comfy and the print is so cute. I love it.

I hope you had sweet dreams last night. Thanks for reading, now go make something fun for yourself.
